Aces’ A’ja Wilson Erupts for 53 Points to Tie WNBA Single-Game Record

Take a bow, A’ja Wilson! The Las Vegas Aces have been the WNBA’s best team for the past two seasons, and their superstar player now owns a piece of history. Wilson scored 53 points in last night’s win over the Dream (112-100), tying the WNBA’s single-season record for points in a game (Liz Cambage, 2018). It’s just the third 50-point game in league history.

Inside Wilson’s 53-Point Highlight Reel

The Aces’ forward tallied her season average (22 ppg) by halftime, getting anything she wanted in the paint and forcing the Dream into fouls left and right. From the stripe, Wilson was nearly perfect (20-for-21). She knocked down 16 shot attempts from the floor and missed only seven. When she wasn’t attacking the rim and getting fouled, Wilson was automatic in the mid-range, giving Atlanta a steady diet of 10-footers. She had 51 points inside the final minute before knocking down two free throws to match the record.
