Braves def. Astros (6-2) to Take Game 1 of the World Series
Chop it up for a one-game lead in the Fall Classic! The Braves were 6-2 winners over the Astros on Tuesday night in Houston. And once again, the bats of Eddie Rosario and company were churning for Atlanta. The Braves erupted for a five-run breakout in the first three innings en route to a 5-0 lead that held up. Rosario, Ozzie Albies and Jorge Soler all went 2-for-5 with 1 RBI while every batter in the starting lineup recorded a hit. Adam Duvall also added a home run to the mix.
Soler got the World Series started with a historic moment as he raked the third pitch of the game for the first true leadoff home run in World Series history. It’s the first time the first batter of Game 1 has ever homered in the Fall Classic.
Despite the victory in Game 1, the Braves lost starting pitcher Charlie Morton to a fractured fibula from a line drive in the second inning. Morton finished the inning — a perfect inning — before exiting.
It’s 1-0 Atlanta, but we’re just getting started.
