Welcome Back,
Game 1 goes to the Braves, but the Fall Classic has plenty of drama left to unfold. Tuesday also marked the sendoff of a USWNT icon. Goodbyes are never fun, but we’ll say hello to another day of sports.

Braves Break Out in Game 1
Braves def. Astros (6-2) to Take Game 1 of the World Series
Chop it up for a one-game lead in the Fall Classic! The Braves were 6-2 winners over the Astros on Tuesday night in Houston. And once again, the bats of Eddie Rosario and company were churning for Atlanta. The Braves erupted for a five-run breakout in the first three innings en route to a 5-0 lead that held up. Rosario, Ozzie Albies and Jorge Soler all went 2-for-5 with 1 RBI while every batter in the starting lineup recorded a hit. Adam Duvall also added a home run to the mix.
Soler got the World Series started with a historic moment as he raked the third pitch of the game for the first true leadoff home run in World Series history. It’s the first time the first batter of Game 1 has ever homered in the Fall Classic.
Despite the victory in Game 1, the Braves lost starting pitcher Charlie Morton to a fractured fibula from a line drive in the second inning. Morton finished the inning — a perfect inning — before exiting.
It’s 1-0 Atlanta, but we’re just getting started.

Carli Lloyd Signs Off for USWNT
USWNT Smashes South Korea (6-0) in Carli Lloyd’s Sendoff
That’s a wrap for the historic career of USWNT’s star Carli Lloyd. The 39-year-old announced her retirement in August before finishing out the fall slate of friendlies for the squad, ending with 17 years, 316 international caps and a magical moment of recognition. Lloyd went off in the 66th minute before passing the captain’s arm band to Megan Rapinoe. A standing ovation on the pitch, both during the game and after, gave way to a touching tribute.
\”It\’s been emotional. But there\’s just a sense of peace and contentment that I feel — it\’s just joy and happiness. It’s been an amazing journey and I gave it all I had, and now I can walk away into the next chapter.” — Carli Lloyd
Lloyd’s Career (By the Numbers)
134 International Goals (3rd Most in USWNT History)
316 International Games (2nd Most in the World)

Three Teams (Bulls, Warriors & Jazz) Are Last Unbeatens After Week 1 of the NBA Season
After a full week of NBA action, only three teams still hold a zero in the loss column. The Chicago Bulls (4-0), Golden State Warriors (4-0) and Utah Jazz (3-0) are the last undefeated squads after just four games or less. Both the Warriors and Jazz were winners on Tuesday. And while it’s way too early to call anything, there’s a growing sense that a revival season for Golden State and Chicago are no flukes.
