Carolina Takes Down Tampa Bay in Overtime Thriller
In a nail-biter that went to overtime, the Carolina Hurricanes picked up a 2-1 road win against the Tampa Bay Lightning in a game that featured multiple finishes.
The Lightning took control with a Steven Stamkos goal in the 2nd period to take a 1-0 lead. Carolina answered with a power play goal to tie it up midway through the 3rd which eventually led to overtime. In OT, Brady Skjei initially netted the game-winner, but an extended review ruled the play offsides. After the game resumed, Martin Necas ripped a top-shelf goal to give the Hurricanes the win for good.
Carolina now moves to 10-1-0, and their 20 points on the season trail only the Panthers (21) for the most in the NHL.
